Hi, I’m Paulius – the latest addition to the team.
I’m 19 years old and I live in Midleton, a town just outside of Cork City. I am Lithuanian, but I’ve been living in Ireland since the summer of 2006. I love music, programming and other nerdy things. I joined TeamworkPM crew at the start of the summer to gain experience in the industry, as I am still in college and I’ll be starting the third year of my Computer Science degree this September. I’ll admit, it was a little intimidating to start working here as I had no previous work experience in the industry, but I quickly got used it thanks to the friendly work environment here at TeamworkPM HQ and I’m looking forward to working here throughout the college year.
How it all began:
My introduction to computers was quite late compared to others. I received my first computer as a birthday present when I turned 8. Shortly after, I discovered programming – I was fascinated by the idea that you could make a computer do anything you want. Aware of my new interest, my awesome sister gifted me two books on programming, and so I began writing simple text-based programs with Pascal and Delphi. Soon after we got an internet connection, I discovered HTML and tried to make my own web pages, using Microsoft FrontPage. However, this did not last, as my sister had to move away for studies and needed the computer as we could not afford a second one at the time…
And here I am today, working on the biggest web application I’ve ever worked on – TeamworkPM!
Here’s some of the things I’ve worked on so far:
- Developing Code Samples
- Milestones – Switching to MVVM framework
- Files – Switching to MVVM framework
- Likes – Switching to MVVM framework
- Notifications system – tweaks and improvements
Tools I use for development:
- My awesome custom built PC with 3 monitors
- HTC Desire X
- Asus N55SF Laptop
- ColdFusion, jQuery, KnockoutJS, PrototypeJS, TippedJS
- Sublime Text 2
- Navicat for MySQL
Things I do when I’m not programming:
When I’m not working on TeamworkPM, I’m probably working on different projects on my computer at home. I play computer games too, but I try not to let them consume all of my free time. Yes, I have no life!
I also love music. I play guitar, bass and keyboard and produce music on my computer. I DJ too, but it’s more of a hobby than a profession to me. Other than a couple of gigs throughout the year, I normally host a music show every Thursday on the UCC student radio station, although I’ve been too busy to keep it going this summer.
All nerdy things aside, I like climbing, martial arts, swimming and travelling.
So, that pretty much sums it all up. I’m glad to be part of the crew and I’m looking forward to see what new features and improvements I can develop to make TeamworkPM even more awesome!
